Our pick of the ultimate cruising destinations for 2023, and the next level yachts to explore them on
There are yacht charters, and then there are these – the crème de la crème of cruising adventures, with a level of luxury which will surpass all your expectations for a real once in a lifetime experience. Think kayaking with seals in Iceland, eating freshly caught lobster on a beach BBQ in Maine, or partying on deck until the small hours in Sardinia after racing against international champions. Whatever your ultimate superyacht fantasies are, Edmiston’s fleet of exceptional charter superyachts has something to fit the bill.
Looking ahead to 2023 and beyond, our carefully curated fleet of charter yachts will be available across Europe and the Mediterranean all season, and are already getting quickly snapped up. For a further flung summer adventure, we’ve also got yachts in New England, Canada, the Galapagos, Maldives and San Blas islands.
Whether it’s a blow-out birthday celebration with friends, or just a rare opportunity to have multiple generations of family together in one place, these are the ultimate charter trips to start planning now.
Ever since the 1960’s, when the Aga Khan transformed the sleepy Costa Smeralda into an ultra-luxury destination, superyachts have sought out the Italian island’s aquamarine waters and world-class marinas. Sardinia’s Porto Cervo, Cala di Volpe and Porto Rotondo are where some of the most impressive sailing yachts sojourn for the summer. Several prestigious regattas taking place in the region each year, too, making the glittering Costa Smeralda the perfect destination for getting a slice of racing action. 32m CROSSBOW is the ultimate high performance sailing yacht for such a trip, and is currently available across the Mediterranean next summer. For those who prefer the comfort of a motor yacht, 48m PARILLION is accepting charters in the Med all summer.
It’s one thing checking into a luxury hotel in the Seychelles and Maldives for a few days of R&R, but quite another to explore the crystal clear waters and dazzling white sand beaches by yacht. Cruising between the 115 islands of the Seychelles and stopping wherever you fancy, your experienced crew can steer clear of the more populated destinations, and head straight for the lesser visited coral atolls of the Outer Islands or the Vallée de Mai nature reserve. Here, virtually untouched islands are home to unique wildlife, flora and fauna, with the largest population of giant tortoises on the planet. In the Maldives, it’s the same story – with the luxury of your own private yacht charter, you have the freedom to explore empty beaches and diving spots miles from another person, before returning aboard for your own tailored luxury experience there.
In Summer 2023, 90m DAR will be available for charter in the Indian ocean for the first time, offering a unique perspective on these sun-drenched destinations. Alternatively, 56m JAGUAR and 65m VENTUM MARIS will both be available for the Seychelles and Maldives too.
The Red Sea is one of the most intriguing yachting destinations in the world, but one that is seldom cruised. In early 2023, 86m SUNRAYS is accepting charters between Jeddha and The Red Sea. Stretching 1,200 miles southwards from the Suez Canal to the Arabian Sea, this captivating corner of the Middle East has plenty to offer discerning travellers. With mountains to trek and deserts to explore, a Saudi Arabian yacht charter is full of Middle Eastern promise. The long, unspoilt coastline is dotted with secluded lagoons lapped by warm, aquamarine waters. Its climate and thriving natural ecosystem make the Kingdom an inviting year-round yacht charter destination.
The Caribbean’s peak season is between November and March, but the summer months are equally lovely, with far fewer visitors meaning you can have the best beaches all to yourself. Having just spend the winter island-hopping around the Caribbean, 55m AMIGOS will be spending the summer there too. The sleek six-cabin motor yacht available throughout the summer in the Leeward islands, Windward islands and Bahamas.
New England offers a variety of luxury sailing destinations to suit all tastes, with something for everyone from history buffs to beach lovers. Cruise around Nantucket, an exclusive island off the coast of Massachusetts is known for its sandy beaches, luxury real estate, and high-end shopping and dining. Further down the coast, Martha’s Vineyard is another must-visit destination for superyacht charters, boasting beautiful beaches, charming towns, and a variety of luxury accommodations. Modern classic NADAN, an award-winning 46m yacht with a distinctive 1920’s style, is the perfect motor yacht for cruising these waters.
From the rugged Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia to the breathtaking fjords of British Columbia, there’s always something new to discover with a charter holiday along the Canadian coast. Take in the stunning views, or spend your days whale watching and spotting wildlife on deck. 86m AQUIJO will be in Canada throughout the summer, with an on-deck swimming pool and a clean and quiet electric-diesel hybrid engine to ensure a peaceful foray into nature.
The Baja Peninsular and the Sea of Cortez, also known as the Gulf of California, is Mexico’s superyacht hub and one of the most unspoilt coastlines in the area. You’ll find tranquil turquoise coves, pristine deserts and rugged mountain ranges on your La Paz yacht charter, as well as stunning remote anchorages across more than 100 miles of coastline. Cruising between uninhabited islands, you’ll spot playful sea lions basking in the sun, as well as the annual migration of whales, dolphins and majestic manta rays. The crystal clear sea also has legendary status among diving and snorkelling enthusiasts, making it the ideal choice for a charter with a difference. Sleek 50m AZTECA II will be in the area over the summer, while 30m SUPER accommodates eight guests within her four spacious cabins and is also based off Baja.
For a true once-in-a-lifetime charter holiday, it’s never too early to start planning that trip of a lifetime. From Summer 2024, award-winning 56m sailing yacht Asahi joins the charter market for the first time off the coast of Costa Rica, New Zealand and Australia. Guests can choose to be based around the pristine San Blas islands, a cluster of over 300 islands and cays off located off the Isthmus of Panama, or to spend their trip in the Galapagos islands as one of few private yachts able to get close-up to nature. With enough planning, ASAHIcan also take up to 12 guests around the Society Islands and Tuamotus, as well as other destinations.
Take the time to start planning the trip of the lifetime now, and get in touch with Edmiston’s team of charter specialists to discover the full list of destinations for next year and which yachts are available.
