UKSA’s bursary programme supports clear pathways into maritime careers by removing financial and practical barriers to professional training. It enables young people to progress into roles such as superyacht crew, Yachtmaster Offshore, cadetships and water sports instructors. By providing access to recognised qualifications and structured career routes, it ensures talent and determination, rather than circumstance, define future opportunities. 

The Edmiston Foundation supports UKSA’s year-round welfare and pastoral provision, ensuring young people are not only able to access training but are supported to sustain and succeed. This includes dedicated guidance for those facing challenges such as poor mental health, financial hardship or instability at home. Enhanced support for cadets, alongside wellbeing training and workshops, builds resilience, reduces drop-out rates and underpins long-term progression into maritime careers.

The Edmiston Foundation supports the Ionian Environment Foundation in removing ghost nets from the Ionian Sea. Working with local fishers, divers and communities, the initiative targets key marine habitats, including Posidonia seagrass meadows. Alongside clean-up efforts, it promotes education and collaboration, helping to reduce future pollution while protecting marine life and supporting long-term ecosystem health.

The Edmiston Foundation supports the Marilles Foundation and its partners to strengthen sustainable fisheries across the Balearic Islands. Through the Calant Xarxes Alliance, the initiative promotes responsible fishing practices, improves compliance and encourages sustainable consumption. The Edmiston Foundation supports the expansion of the Digifish initiative in St Vincent and the Grenadines, strengthening oversight of small-scale fishing activity. By equipping vessels with solar-powered tracking devices, the programme improves monitoring in protected areas, supports marine research and enhances safety at sea, while increasing transparency and compliance across the fisheries sector.
