TIGRIS is a classic sailing yacht that was first built in 1899 and was completely restored in 2001.
Listed for sale for the first time in many years, TIGRIS represents a great opportunity to purchase a vessel in near original configuration, in excellent condition, and capable of continuing the regatta-winning tradition for many generations to come.
The TIGRIS classic yacht is one of five yachts designed by the great Alfred Mylne that made up the Clyde 20-ton class. Commissioned by the Clyde Corinthian Sailing Cub, they were known for their outstanding seaworthiness and ability to turn speedily in a stiff breeze. Today, the TIGRIS yacht is the only hull still afloat.
In 2001, the 18.6-metre TIGRIS yacht underwent a complete restoration in Southern England. Details of this refit are hard to come by, but a huge amount of good quality work was done to the structure, and a new deck, new rig, and new deck furniture were added.
Later, in 2014, she was sent to the famous Brittany yard Chantier du Guip in Brest. Renowned for its expertise in all aspects of wooden boat construction, the yard strengthened and upgraded her structure. The work included (but was not limited to) the rebuilding of the stem, the fabrication and fitting of new bronze floors, the addition of a new mast step laminated in Iroko with stainless steel strengthening, and the rebuilding of parts of the bulwarks. A full list of works is available for interested parties.
Her racing prowess was demonstrated when she won her class in St Tropze in 2013, though the TIGRIS classic yacht is just as comfortable cruising as she is competing.
TIGRIS can accommodate four guests, with one in the forecabin and three in the saloon.
