Experience in the Superyacht Industry
Born and raised in Ireland, Paul grew up immersed in the marine industry through his father’s marina and yacht sales business. He became heavily involved in competitive sailing during his teenage years and early twenties, progressing to professional sailing before spending five years working aboard superyachts as a deckhand and bosun. He has competed professionally in regattas for more than 20 years, including 12 years as part of the race crew aboard the iconic J Class yacht Ranger. Paul later completed a business degree before moving to the United States, where he spent several years in an executive leadership role with a New York Stock Exchange-listed company. This developed his experience in business strategy, complex negotiations, organisational leadership and high-value transactions. Since moving into brokerage, Paul has worked on transactions involving yachts from 50 to 90 metres, including the sale of the classic motor yacht Nero. He has also been involved as an Owner’s advisor and representative in the sale of a 90-metre new build project, alongside significant refits of sailing and motor yachts ranging from 38 to 55 metres.
Approach to Brokerage
Paul approaches brokerage with an understanding of yachts from both operational and commercial perspectives. His experience working on board means he understands the practical realities of ownership, while his business background enables him to navigate negotiations, manage multiple stakeholders and guide complex transactions towards completion. His wider interests in engineering, classic automobiles, motorsport and aviation complement this perspective. As a private rotorcraft pilot, Paul has a natural interest in technical detail and high-performance engineering, bringing an informed and practical eye to the yachts and projects he represents.
